InSite Property Group is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant who will be responsible for accounting, reporting, cash management, and administration of self-storage properties.

Objective:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain the company’s financial records and ensure that accounting records are in accordance with IFRS and GAAP and company policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and post monthly journal entries
  • Review and post tenant receipts and revenue transactions
  • Review accounts payable invoices for proper coding
  • Ensure that expenditures are appropriately expensed or capitalized in accordance with the company’s accounting policy
  • Prepare journal entries for acquisitions and sale of properties
  • Prepare journal entries for debt acquisitions and related monthly activities
  • Prepare draw requests
  • Prepare coding of general contractor invoices
  • Review and reconcile trial balance
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly property financial statements and variance analytics
  • Review daily cash positions
  • Assist with external audit requests and preparation of the annual financial statements

Other Functions:

  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

  • A four-year degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field is required
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Yardi experience is highly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiatives
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities while staying focused and meeting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Salary Range:

  • $63,000 - $72,000
